Happy 1st year of healthy lifestyle!

Yes, one year ago I decided to go for a run in order to start a new lifestyle.

The August 7th, 2012 was the day when I decided to cut the passive lifestyle and start to eat clean. Since then, my life has changed a lot.

My weight was 62kg and I filled my body with junk food (people think that if you’re vegan you have to be skinny, but no, my friends, it’s not the rule!). I was fat and I felt bad with myself. That body wasn’t my body, not the body I wanted. So, one day – after trying different diets with no results – I decided to do some sport and eat clean. The easiest option sometimes seems like the most difficult, but really, it’s the best option!

I looked for motivation in Tumblr (it’s not a joke!). Tumblr was my starting point. I discovered that I wasn’t alone, there were a lot of people in the same situation. I spent many hours reading the workout plans of strangers, or what kind of food they ate. I logged in Myfitnesspal in order to control my daily intake and I worked out 4-5 times per week and trust me, it wasn’t anything difficult to do.

Furthermore, I started to follow some fit-girls’ profiles that kept my motivation on the highest level. Kelsey Byers, Jamie Eason, Ashely Scott (theskinnyfitgirl),… Nowadays, they still are my motivation, but now I am my main own motivation!

Months went by, and my body and mind started to change. At the beginning I used to wear a 42-size (Spanish measurements) and now, I wear a 36. My clothes fit better and it makes me feel more self-confident.

My self-confidence has grown up a lot, and I am so proud of myself.

Running was a surprise for me. I never thought that this kind of sport could change my life. Since then, I have run in several races, I have met awesome runners, I have joined at the Veggie Runners team in Spain,…

I’m very happy right now. My life has changed. And this change has been amazing! I’m all in this healthy-living lifestyle. And now, I know this is MY lifestyle.

and you know what? It’s only the beginning of my story… there’s gonna be more to live!

A new gadget in my kitchen!

Thursday is about to finish. How it was? Mine was awesome. El jueves está a punto de acabar. ¿Qué tal ha ido? El mío fue genial. 

Luckily, everything is going right at work. I’m working on a new big project for my company, and I’m excited about. On the other, I’m very excited too for other reasons. Personally, a new project has born in my town, and I’m on it! I’ll explain more about it, soon. 🙂 Afortunadamente, todo está yendo bien en el trabajo. Estoy trabajando en un nuevo gran proyecto para mi empresa y estoy muy contenta de poder participar. Por otro lado, también estoy contenta por otros motivos. A nivel personal, ha empezado un nuevo proyecto en mi ciudad y tengo la suerte de formar parte! En breve, podré explicar más sobre ello. 🙂

Today I want to share with you my experience with a new gadget. My parents gave me a new gadget in Xmas. A yoghurt-maker! As you know, I am a strong advocate of homemade products. Hoy quiero explicaros mi experiencia con un nuevo gadget. Mis padres me regalaron un nuevo gadget las pasadas Navidades. ¡Una yogurtera! Como sabéis, soy una gran defensora de los productos hechos en casa.

Recently, and after eating fully raw during two weeks (more or less) I wanted to do some changes in my diet. Being fully-raw helped to me to know more my body, its needs. For that reason, I outlined a new food plan for me and my new needs. I have cut processed foods, sugar, and cafeine, totally. I listened to my body, and my body thanks to me this change, a positive change. Recientemente, y después de llevar una dieta crudivegana durante dos semanas aproximadamente, quise hacer algunos cambios en mi dieta. Ser crudivegana me ayudó a conocer más a mi cuerpo, a conocer sus necesidades. Por este motivo, me plantée comenzar una “nueva alimentación” para cubrir estas nuevas necesidades que descubrí. Dejé de consumir productos procesados, azúcar, y cafeína, del todo. Escuché a mi cuerpo, y mi cuerpo me agradece este cambio, un cambio positivo. 

Some weeks ago, when I ate some white bread, my stomach was reacting bad. And that feeling was repeated everytime I ate processed white bread. I tried to avoid this kind of products during some days, and my stomach was better. Hace algunas semanas, cuando comía algo de pan blanco (o pan, en general) mi estómago no reaccionaba bien. Y esa sensación se repetía cada vez que yo comía pan muy procesado. Intenté evitar este tipo de productos durante algunos días, y mi estomago fue a mejor, la sensación aquella tan horrible desapareció. 

Well, let’s take up the stuff again. hehehe My parents gave me a yoghurt-maker! Before using it, I wasn’t sure about the result with soy iogurts. But, the result was very satisfactory. Now, I can prepare my own soy iogurts and I’m very happy! Pero bien, vamos a retomar el hilo. jejeje. Mis padres me regalaron una yogurtera. Antes de usarla, no estaba muy convencida del resultado que obtendría con los yogures de soja. Pero el resultado es increible. Ahora, puedo preparar mis propios yogures y estoy muy contenta… ¡Y de forma muy económica!

The process is very simple. You have to mix 1l of soy milk with 1 soy yogurt. Mix well, preventing lumps. Once you have the mixture ready, pour it into containers that come with the yogurt maker. We schedule the time (8-11 hours) and the machine does the rest. Easy, isn’t it? El proceso es muy simple. Hay que mezclar 1 litro de leche de soja con 1 yogur de soja. Mezclamos bien, evitando que se formen grumos. Una vez que tengas la mezcla lista, verter en los contenedores que vienen con la yogurtera. Programamos el tiempo (8-11 horas) y la máquina hace el resto. Fácil, ¿no?

For now, I just tried to make simple soy yogurt, but soon I will try to do different yogurt flavors. Now, I get another healthy source of protein and low-calorie (57kcal/yogurt). De momento, solo he probado de hacer yogures simples de soja, pero en breve intentaré hacer yogures de diferentes sabores. Ahora, dispongo de otra fuente sana de proteína y baja en calorías (57kcal/yogurt)

It was on Saturday.

I hope you had a happy Saturday, guys!

Yesterday morning I went to get my eco-basket full of veggies, homemade hummus and bulk oatmeal. These little things make me happy! 🙂

Well, as I said in my last post, some people wrote me in order to request more photos about my meals. I feel very flattered by this.

Here is my lunch of Saturday. Easy, quick and delicious. Mmm broccoli… I love the steamed broccoli. Broccoli has a place on my “Superfood” list because it’s low in calories and rich in nutrients.  It’s also low in fat and a good source of fiber. It is a good source of minerals like calcium, potassium and selenium.

I always cook my own seitan. And I love it. I don’t eat too much seitan, but when I eat it, I like that it is to my taste. No preservatives, no coloring. A good protein source.

Easy, isn’t it? ;-P This meal has 317kcal. Low in calories and tasty. And a good source of protein and iron, too. If you want, you can serve it with a whole wheat bread slice or a bowl of brown rice. But, this serving is good enough for me right now.

My first 5k race!

Good morning!

As I told you in last posts, yesterday was a special day for me. I joined to my first 5k race! I’m very proud of myself. I went with sister-in-law, Ahlai, who is a great runner!

Well, for me it wasn’t easy but I’m happy ‘because I finished the race – I was running the most part of the time, only I reduced the pace in the km 3.

The experience was awesome, ’cause it’s a way to know your physical condition a little bit more, and how to improve it.

Now, I guess that I need to train a lot more in order to improve my results. This time I ran the 5k in 33minutes. I know it could be better, and for that, i’m going to train hard.

And, since I think that this kind of races are a good way to train, I’m going to join in another race, this time at the end of October. A new goal for this month.
